Take a moment and reflect on the last time you went outside of your comfort zone.
The last time you changed up your schedule, your priorities, your sense of self.
The last time you took a chance or a risk and stepped outside of you.
Even if it was to take a walk you never take.
Even if it was to speak up in a meeting you never raise your hand in.
Even if it was to take a different route home.
Or even if it was to do something more extreme, like jumping of an airplane.
Doing that one something out of your norm changes you.
It changes up your internal routine and shifts your energy.
It makes your mind think differently, and adjust, problem solve, and find solutions to your actions (changing a schedule, finding a better way, etc).
And it proves to you that you can do it - you can switch it up - and you can find success and enjoyment in not knowing the outcome. Not knowing what’s next.
Some of the things that we do outside of our normal routine may really push us, they may really make us uncomfortable - but it’s about showing yourself that you can.
It’s about saying yes to the challenge that you want to take on.
It’s about putting all of your effort into it, and committing.
Its about returning to what your normal is, after the fact, and being proud of yourself in the way you handled it all (no matter how you handled it).
When you show yourself this, then you can continue to take steps to do it more often - and to begin to push the limits you set for yourself each time.
And if you are one of those who wants to push boundaries, and to excel in life by raising the bar - this is where you can begin.
In life, it’s always the little things that make the biggest impacts.
